BostonSolux focus: Mr Yvon Vodounon, we dare not quote in this interview the exhaustive list of your Expertise, you are Expert in the Architecture Data Center, Linux Server, Data Base and Big Data. You are also Expert in EDM (Electronic Document Management). Let’s talk about EDM, a relevant subject for business decision makers today.

Yvon VODOUNON: Thank you for giving me the opportunity to discuss the Doc Management topic  with you. EDM is traditionally known for its original use which mainly involves the classification and archiving of documents produced and exchanged by the company. Because of this, the Electronic Document Management has experienced very strong developments which allow it now to cover a field of competences well wider than at its beginning.

One of the most important fields of application is the introduction of the Documentary Flow Management as support of the company’s activity itself. The EDM became a tool that participates in the strategy and management of the company.

In fact, EDM is a tool that must reinforce collaboration among the company’s employees, but must also participate in the organization of daily work. As such, a modern EDM is presented at each stage of the work of employees to support the work procedures as well as normalization and traceability. For example, with the Standard ISO 15489 which introduces an enhanced traceability in the EDM, it becomes a strategic tool for handling document management in organizations both public and private. The traceability defined by this standard constitutes an asset in the implementation of the traceability rules and good control in the companies that make use of it.

This constitutes therefore a decisive advantage in the implementation of cyber administrations programs in countries without a controlled document management practice. Another field also important that holds a strategic place every year is the integration of the Digital Signature. The EDM allows one to develop the full flow of a contract execution from the first contact with the customer.
