It’s all about implementing SSL technology over 3G/4G connectivity between ATMs and the headquarter or branches of a bank. 

As Secure Socket Layer, SSL is a cryptographic system that uses two keys to encrypt data:

• a public key known to everyone and,
• a private or secret key known only to the recipient of the message.

 E.G: Most web browsers support SSL, and many websites use the protocol to obtain confidential user information, including credit card numbers. By convention, URLs that require an SSL connection start with https: instead of http: .

3G is the third generation wireless communication technology based on the Universal Mobile Telecommunications Standard. It provides up to 1.9 Mbps, suitable for data, voice, and video.

How does SSL work?

SSL allows sensitive information such as credit card numbers, social security numbers, and login credentials to be transmitted securely. Normally, data sent between browsers and web servers is sent in plain text—leaving you vulnerable to eavesdropping. If an attacker is able to intercept all data being sent between a browser and a web server they can see and use that information.

More specifically, SSL is a security protocol. Protocols describe how algorithms should be used; in this case, the SSL protocol determines variables of the encryption for both the link (3G) and the data (confidential/financial) being transmitted.

How does BostonSolux secure 3G connectivity for banks?

Connecting ATMs to the bank through 3G connectivity only is possible. Therefore, by doing this, the data can be intercepted and used inappropriately by a hacker simply because the 3G link is not sufficiently secured.

Since we are about financial institution, data security must be considered at the top level.

We then strengthen the 3G connectivity by adding the Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology to ensure Data integrity and Data reliability, through a set of technical security mechanisms using powerful cryptography process.
